Weekly Wrap 25th July 2014

posted 24 Jul 2014, 21:23 by Admin at CabaSLSC

Hey Everyone,

There is a lot of reminders that you will need put in your Calendars as there is lot happening over the next couple of months at the Club.  Firstly we have our Lifesaving Annual Meeting and Sign On for Patrolling Members at 10am on Sunday 17th August, this is followed by our Annual General Meeting on the same day at 11am.  The Nomination Forms and Notices will be emailed out next Monday or you can download them from the Website.  Not to be outdone by the Seniors, the Juniors Sign has been set for 31st August from 8.30 am. to Noon.  More information regarding Fees etc will be emailed out in the next couple of weeks.

It is with a very heavy heart that I pass on the news of the passing of our Life Member John “Bags” Bagnall,  Bags passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon this week.  For those of you who knew Bags, I am sure you have plenty of stories to share about his time with the Club.  Although the family are having a private ceremony for his cremation, there will be an opportunity to do so in the next coming months via the Caba Curl and also a celebration of Bags life to be held at a later date.  If you have a fond memory of Bags, or a picture, we would love to hear from you, please email to cabacurl@cabaslsc.org.au.  My deepest condolences to Gary and the family, he was a great man and I was very blessed to have known him.

Best of luck to all our Probationary Members who will be completing their assessment this Sunday.  I will keep my fingers crossed that you get great weather and calm conditions, I am looking forward to Patrolling with you at some point in the upcoming season.

To the “Day Boys” you know who you are, we have had a complaint that you all scared away the whales last Friday Morning as you were taking your morning swim.  Onlookers claim they couldnt hear the seagulls above your giggling, squealing and splashing whilst venturing in off soft rock, must have been a bit too chilly that day.

Tim Whitney is looking for and IRB  driver and crew for the  Catholic Schools surfing Carnival at Cabarita on 4th September.  Will need you to drive and supervise from 7.30am to 2pm.  He promises you will be fed.

Our Member Draw is still yet to go off, so it is now a nice $850.00 this Sunday and the Bonus Draw $460.00 tonight.  Just remember you cant win if you arent here.   Just to add to that, Robert Readman did win another meat tray last weekend, I think that is five in a row now, I am sure I heard him mentioning a free BBQ on the deck soon.

Jackpot now $850.00 next draw 27th June.  So get down to the Club between 4.30pm and 6pm.  Remember, your name goes back in the draw each week, so if it has been drawn once it CAN be drawn again.   Dont forget our Friday Night Bonus draw which now stands at $460.00, drawn this Friday between 6.00 pm and 7.30pm.
