Weekly Wrap 23rd October

posted 22 Oct 2013, 21:09 by Admin at CabaSLSC

Hey Everyone,

Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the sunshine and surf (there was a little). As you will see from the Nipper Wrap, we have a huge weekend at the Club this weekend starting off with our Halloween Disco this Friday Night and finishing off with the 12 and Over Surf Lifesaving Carnival being held here on Sunday.  In the middle of all of that we will be running the Fundraising BBQ at Woolies Cabarita this Saturday, our gorgeous Secretary Mary-Anne has offered to co-ordinate, but is looking for helpers, if you can spare an hour or two on Saturday, please let Mary-Anne know by giving her a call or text on 0408153083.

On Sunday there will be a fundraising BBQ out the front of the Surf Club during the carnival, this would normally be run by ourselves, however, the BBQ will be run by the family and friends of local boy Max Lee who recently suffered some major injuries whilst holidaying overseas.  Max is now back in Australia but needs a lot of medical help and so we offered this BBQ to them to assist with their fundraising for Max.  If you are in the area, pop on down, you will not only fill your tummy, but be assisting a local family with much needed funds.

Dont forget your Caba Curl articles, I am sure our Editor Elke is starting to throw together the November edition, so if you have any interesting tidbits or things happening in the community you would like us all to know about, make sure you flick her an email cabacurl@cabaslsc.org.au

I thought I would leave you with this lovely message we received on our Facebook Wall last night, it makes everything we do here seem worthwhile.  Well done Troy, Kyle, Jodie, Charlie, Taylor  and our new Bronzies.

Sunday afternoon Im down the beach with my two children and three of their friends when two of them got into trouble on their boogie board. One of the kids bailed and swam for shore(thanks to nippers she had the confidence to swim in the ocean) leaving the other drifting out towards the back of the break. The girls ran for help and even though the surf life savers had finished for the day they sprang into action and were back down on the beach in a matter of minutes bringing her in. You guys do a fantastic job and if it werent for you this could have ended in another weekend tragedy.
