Weekly Wrap 18th January 2013

posted 18 Feb 2013, 20:38 by Admin at CabaSLSC
Hey Everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Years Holidays!  For those of you who have not yet returned to work, just a heads up, the beach is pretty amazing at the moment.  Great water temp and the clarity is awesome, so make sure you get on down to enjoy it!

Thank you to everyone for an awesome weekend of competition, fun, laughter, friendship and club spirit last weekend in South West Rocks.  A team of 52 travelled down, but the team spirit made it feel more like 152.  A huge congratulations to all the kids that competed.  There is just not enough room in the Wrap to highlight all the results, but it will be in the next Caba Curl.  A special mention must go out to our Junior March Past Team who took out a Bronze Medal, they looked amazing and are a credit to their Trainer Shirley Clark assisted by Carolyn Bryant.

Not to be outdone by the Juniors, a group of our Seniors put together a team at the last minute and after vigorous training of approximately 60 minutes through the South West Rocks Tourist Park, each with either beer or wine in hand that night, they backed up the next day to also take out a Bronze Medal.  Look out Mollymook next year, we have Gold in sight!

One of our Age Managers Tim Whitney did seem to get a little of the “evening” training confused and thought that cycling was an event, he was doing quite well on his pint size BMX until one of the training wheels fell off!  Thankfully we had an Official come and let us know that it was Midnight and time to go to bed, so Tim hung up his helmet and off he trotted.  Unfortunately the helmet didn’t help him from having a sore head the next day, we are still trying to work out the cause.

Last but not least, I want to congratulate all our Seniors that competed, as we all know it isn’t about winning or losing, it is about how much oxygen you need once you cross the line.  So thank you all for ensuring that we are keeping our Bronze Training up to date.  Next year, we may just pack the defib just to be safe.

Les Patience, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten you, two Silver Medals and a Bronze, highest medal tally of the Carnival for Caba, you also happen to be one of the oldest competitors, something for the Juniors to strive for!  Love your work!
